Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) has grown from a small underground party for lovers of electronic dance music to an exhilarating festival of music and lights that draws hundreds of thousands of people to Motor Speedway every June outside of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Somehow managing to outshine and rock even the Las Vegas Strip, EDC is an electrified three-day extravaganza that is sure to scratch even the deepest musical and dance itch. A dazzling and well-produced display of illuminated art and music, it is the largest electronic dance festival outside of Europe and has even earned the nickname American Ibiza.
Filled with today’s hottest DJs and talented performers in stunning costumes and complete with carnival games, this three-day desert festival offers quite an experience.
Where to stay
Most people stay on the Las Vegas Strip. There are some hotels near the venue, but they are low quality, book quickly, and require you to drive to the venue.
Book your hotel room well in advance as good hotel deals are hard to come by as Electric Daisy Carnival weekend approaches. With crowds topping 100,000, it’s no wonder rooms tend to get booked quickly. The sooner you get your tickets and reserve your room, the less you end up paying.
It is also a good idea to stay in a hotel where the ferries run regularly and buy a ferry ticket. Taxis are expensive and hard to find and driving your own car means driving it back after the fun is over for the night, as there is no camping on site and sleeping in the parking lot is prohibited.
What Brig
Although items like eye drops and alcoholic beverages can only be purchased on-site, be sure to bring plenty of sealed chapstick, cough drops, and sealed gum, all of which are allowed. Hand sanitizer and tissues are also a good idea for bathrooms. Visit the EDC website for more do’s and don’ts.
Insomniac’s official water bottles, which can be purchased inside, as well as camel packs, can be refilled for free at water stations. Make sure you stay hydrated!
What to wear
There are all kinds of amazing, sparkly and sparkly costumes at EDC, many of which are predictably covered in daisies. The performers are certainly spectacular, but the attendees can often be just as impressive. Tutus, sparkly tights, lighted shirts, and neon accessories are great additions to any costume. The brighter the better!
Closed shoes are also quite essential. Given the crowd and dance environment, protect your toes with flat shoes that are comfortable and easy to walk on and dance with.
