If you have a Hotmail email account (currently called Outlook) but can’t remember your password, you may want to find out how to reset it. You can recover your password from your mobile phone or from your computer, although you will have to go step by step. Take note!
From mobile phone
First, you will have to open Outlook by tapping on the application icon. A blue square with a white ‘O’ appears in the application. Afterwards, you will have to press the start button (although you can skip this step if you have already opened Outlook before).
After these steps, you will need to add your email address. You will have to write it in the text field located in the middle of the page. Then press ‘add account’ (just below the email address). This should take you to the password entry page. You can skip this step if you log in again after resetting your password or reinstalling the app.
Next, click on the link ‘I forgot my password’. This field should be at the bottom of the screen. Check the ‘I forgot my password’ box (which is the first option on the page) and press the ‘next’ box. Next, you will have to enter a verification code. To do this, you will have to type the characters that appear in the code box. Also, you will have to distinguish between upper and lower case.
If you have done all the steps correctly, you will have to press ‘next’ and choose an account recovery option. You can retrieve your password through a phone number or with a secondary email. Next, you will need to enter your email address or phone number to verify your identity.
Choosing a new password
Then press ‘send code’ in the lower right corner of the page. When doing so, a recovery code should be sent to your email address or phone number. If you use email, you will need to open the message from Microsoft and make a note of the security code. On the other hand, if you use the mobile phone you must open a text message (from the messages application) and write down the security code that will appear.
Finally, you will have to add the security code in the ‘enter code’ section and press the next button. If you have entered the code correctly you should reach the password reset page. Enter a new password and click on the ‘next’ section. This will take you back to the login page. You can now log into your account with your new password!
