Every time a video game pack was enabled in the Humble Bundle digital store, we had the possibility to choose the recipient of our money, being able to distribute the amount to our liking among the creators of the video games, the store itself or donate it to charity. Well, in a few days this will change completely so that Humble Bundle owners always take some money for each pack that is sold.
In this way, users will be able to continue paying with the amount of money they prefer, but for example, it will no longer be possible to donate everything to a charity, since it will establish a minimum cut that will go to the Humble Bundle of between 15% and 30% . Exactly this decision will take effect in mid-July.
Faced with such an important decision as this, the company wanted to go on stage to comment on why this striking change is due:
Why change after ten years? The PC store landscape has changed significantly since our first packs launched in 20210 and we need to continue to evolve with it to stay ahead. The update will allow us to continue offering great prices on amazing video games, books, and software while supporting significant charitable initiatives with every purchase.
Until now, users had the possibility of distributing the money in the way that each one wanted, but that option will cease to exist very soon. From that moment on, the company ensures that the minimum amount that each party will receive will be clearly indicated, along with greater flexibility when adjusting donations to suit each individual’s taste.
Of course, we will have to see the reaction of the community to a decision like this when it is officially established in a couple of weeks.
