The emptied Spain took center stage during the last elections. We remember little of those dates, when covid-19 was not the only topic of conversation and the news. These rural areas continue to exist and now, more than ever, they require special attention so that they do not fall into oblivion. Hyundai Motor Spain has wanted to get involved in the project to improve the conditions of these municipalities and will do so by offering them an ideal mobility alternative. Vive was born as a 100% electric carsharing platform that is committed to being present in rural areas of Spain. The pilot project started in Campisábalos (Guadalajara) and, after its great reception and functionality, it will also move to La Hiruela (Sierra de Madrid). From there the application will grow little by little until reaching more than 40 rural municipalities . The vehicle chosen for this platform is the electric Hyundai Kona, a compact model that allows them to move easily on unpaved terrain.
The objective of this platform is for the emptied Spain to join the project of sustainable and accessible mobility for all, also for them. The 70 residents of La Hiruela will have at their disposal an electric Hyundai Kona to move through the Sierra del Rincón , a protected area declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO . Thanks to the zero-emission propulsion of this B-SUV, they will not have to worry about their natural environment, they will be taking care of it every meter traveled. Thanks to the autonomy of more than 480 kilometers of the Kona they should not suffer from being stranded, nor for the power. Electric motors have a lot of thrust and with 395 Nm of immediate peak torque, no obstacle will stand up to them.
An initiative for everyone
From Hyundai they defend their faith in this initiative as the appropriate solution to transfer transportation solutions and alternatives to society, all of it . In this case, they must offer a service in accordance with the demands of those rural areas and, as Leopoldo Satrústegui, General Director of Hyundai Motor Spain explains: “Aware of the difficulties and limitations in some rural areas in Spain, we launched the first rural and electric carsharing in Campisábalos , Guadalajara ”. The platform was very well received by citizens and it seemed to them an inclusive mobility option, which rapidly improved transport in the municipality. That’s why Hyundai goes one step further with VIVe and its commitment to improving people’s quality of life through cars.
The platform will not stay in the Sierra de Madrid, or that is the initial objective. After verifying the needs of these populations, Hyundai will expand this service nationwide. You will have to take into account the peculiarities of each area but, in the coming weeks, VIVe will be launched in municipalities of Andalusia, Castilla La Mancha, Castilla y León, Extremadura, the Balearic Islands and Madrid . By the end of 2020 it should be implemented in more than 40 towns and double the number by 2021 .
How is VIVe used?
Any town with less than 10,000 inhabitants will be able to request the entrance of this platform and the network of concessionaires in the area will be in charge of putting it into operation. The idea is that, during the first three months, citizens have free access to the service . After this period, you must pay for its use, as it happens in cities and even visitors can use it if they download the application. The idea is that its use is easy and intuitive , with the aim that no one is left out for fear of not knowing how to use it.
Hyundai will be responsible for installing a charging point in the locality that requests it. It will also take care of the delivery and collection service of the vehicle to put it to charge during its period of inaction. A very notable involvement that shows the firm’s awareness of the environment .
