Renegade Ops was quite a surprise for lovers of the Just Cause saga, because its own creators, in alliance with SEGA, pulled out an arcade like those of yesteryear where they can release adrenaline in short sessions.
But it was, at the same time, an arcade that drew on certain more current elements, which created a most explosive cocktail for fans of direct action. However, except for a DLC (Coldstrike), it had no more continuity despite the good reception of the main video game. And we are talking about 2011 .
Strange that SEGA, so prone to remasters, has yet to bring it back to life on current systems, especially on Nintendo Switch, where its multiplayer mode would capture many more people.
That co-op mode with dynamic screen

We started, precisely, with one of the aspects that most caught my attention in its day: that split screen for its local cooperative mode for two players that completely disappeared when both got closer.
The effect was very curious , because we went from having two screens to having only one while the two players remained close. However, due to the enormous dimensions of each map and the fact that there were many objectives to control, it was rare the occasion where they were next to it.
With the power of current systems, that same dynamic screen could well be offered, but for four people so as not to depend on online , where up to four players can play there in the original from 2011.
Destruction on the Just Cause line

Avalanche Studios got the pipe blast bug since 2010 with Just Cause 2 . From that moment on, he has practically not missed the chaos appointment , with this Renegade Ops the following year, or those two hits from 2015 called Mad Max and Just Cause 3 at the end of that year.
In this downloadable game with a top view almost everything we saw on the screen could be destroyed and sometimes we didn’t even have to press the fire button to destroy something, we could do the same effect simply by going through it with our bolide. A tremendously effective technique when it comes to “knocking down” enemy lookouts.
If the effect of the explosions was already spectacular in 2011, it goes without saying that it would gain a lot if Avalanche Studios added a facelift.
The arcade spirit of Renegade Ops and the Pique

Although if something fascinated me about Renegade Ops , it was that total freedom to explore each of its large maps under a 100% arcade spirit, where every now and then we were put in tension with a 3-minute countdown so that we would fulfill each target quickly.
The pique was, in addition, in that online scoreboard where notices about our companions were jumping, in case we had exceeded their points at that point, since the game also encouraged us not only to do the missions with haste, but, if possible , chaining kills with killer bonus. And for that we had to play repeating the phases until we knew them by heart to act quickly and effectively against each objective.
The modern touch came from part of the experience that we obtained with each action and that by leveling up we obtained R ( improvement points ) that allowed us to unlock defensive, offensive and tactical improvements to equip.
Each character had, in turn, significant differences in their vehicles, especially in the special abilities they had at their disposal, from a heavy cannon for Gunnar to an air attack for Roxy, passing through Armand’s shield or the electromagnetic pulse of Diz.
And the game came dubbed into Spanish . What more could you ask for?
