In Spain there are already several future Mothers of Dragons: 23 girls are called Daenerys

It is clear that when choosing the name for the children, there are many couples who follow the trends of the moment and are inspired not only by fashionable singers (in Spain there are 270 girls called Chenoa), but also by actors or actresses and even in fictional characters.

An example of this is the furor that the Game of Thrones series has been waking up around the world for years, which is leading many parents to register their children with the name of a character. In Spain, for example, there are already several future Mothers of Dragons, and there are already 23 girls named Daenerys .

From 20, they appear in the National Institute of Statistics

We found out about it thanks to a tweet from Pablo OrtizdeZárate @portizdezarate, who has attached a photo of the search he has carried out on the page of the National Institute of Statistics. On this page, anyone can enter the name they want and do a search in which they will see the number of people in Spain who have that name, as well as the average age of said people.

As you will see below, because we have done the same as Pablo, there are 23 girls named Daenerys , and they have an average age of 1.9 years , so they are all still very small (they probably still do not know that they could be mothers of dragons) :

We do not know since when the name appears in the statistics, but it should not do much, because it is not until there are 20 people who have a name, that it begins to appear in the searches.

There are also many Aryas

Suspecting that the same could be happening with other names, we have decided to do other searches, and we have observed that there are no less than 124 girls with the name of Arya (the average age is 1.5 years). There are also many Jon, but it is impossible to know how many come from the taste for Jon Snow , because it is a name that already existed in Spain before (my oldest son, for example, is called Jon and he is 10 years old).

This trend was also seen a few years ago in other countries, when they noticed a considerable increase in girls named Khaleesi in the United States and Arya in the United Kingdom.

We live surrounded by technology and it is inevitable that this will be incorporated as one more tool in parenting. In addition to apps that help with things ranging from designing your baby's room to managing the calendar of children with separated parents, devices such as tablets, mobile phones or smart speakers are here to stay. Proof of this is the growing use of Alexa as a timer that children obey without question (or at least without protesting as much as their mother).
