In the new video for ‘Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings’ one of its developers gives us the details about what should carry the fundamental weight in a new Indiana Jones adventure: history.
The action begins in 1939 (a year after what happened in ‘The Last Crusade’) when Indy receives a message from his old friend Archie in San Francisco about a professor who has disappeared. When he gets there, Indy discovers that Archie has also disappeared and everyone is on the trail of an ancient jade sphere that the professor gave to Archie before they both vanished.
So, up to here everything unfolds as in any classic Indiana Jones adventure: a mysterious artifact, a friend in danger … After recovering the sphere, Indy will head to Panama to return it to its original location, only to discover a diary that relates the existence of a powerful staff capable of separating the waters and causing a rain of fire to fall.
Here we have, therefore, the indispensable biblical reference in any Indy adventure to give it the necessary tone of mysticism, which on this occasion alludes to the fact that Moses parted the waters of the Red Sea to allow his people to flee from the Egyptians.
The truth is that, at least on paper, the plot of this game already seems better to me than that of ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ …
