Khris Davis to be George Foreman heavyweight champion

Biopics about sports stars tend to work very well, both at the box office and in awards season, and are a good way to get to know the lives of world idols in an up-close and entertaining way. After an intense search to see who would play the legendary boxer George Foreman, it seems that the production of the film is clear that it must be Khris Davis. The actor recently participated in the Oscar-nominated film Judas and the black messiah, playing the role of Steel and this summer we will see him alongside Lebron James in the best basketball game of the year with the Looney Tones in Space Jam: New The film’s director, Tillman Jr, praised Khris Davis’s casting and the difficulty of casting someone for such a complicated character: “We went through an extensive search around the world to find someone who could channel George ( …) Ultimately Khris was the only one who could summarize his journey effortlessly as he went from being one of boxing’s most feared fighters to retiring. Just to pull off one of the most amazing comebacks at age 45. ” As in any story that involves Foreman, somehow Muhammad Ali has to appear and this time it will be Sullivan Jones (Harlem, The Gilged Age) who ends up putting on the gloves of the other great boxer. The plot will follow the Foreman story for his sports life, from the extraordinary times in which it was Olympic gold for the United States in Mexico in 1968 to its world heavyweight championship.It will also narrate the great fight with Ali, his retirement and subsequent return to the ring to proclaim himself for the second time as heavyweight champion, breaking the record of the person who achieved it with an older age (45 years). Frank Baldwin and Tillman Jr. co-wrote Dan Gordon’s original screenplay, in a production that will begin in October. Tillman became known in 2018 for directing The Hate You Give, based on the best seller by Angie Thomas. Now we just have to wait to know more details of a production that surely has a place in the Oscars of 2023.
