It has been more than 18 months of a pandemic. More than a year and a half of changes, uncertainty, and instability. Automotive firms were by our side during the toughest months, offering their services, vehicle fleets and plants for the production of masks, protective suits and even respirators. Time has passed but we are still not aware of the true effects of covid-19 in our society , something that Lexus has wanted to investigate together with the leading company in global trend analysis WGSN. On the occasion of the launch of the new Lexus NX, which incorporates for the first time a plug-in hybrid version called NX 450h + , Toyota’s premium firm has presented the results of this report.
WGSN has been in charge of examining society, trends and behaviors that we have been shaping throughout these 18 months, as well as changes in our priorities. The most palpable evolution is the desire to feel more every moment, be it with family, friends or partying. Life experience remains the most important thing, whether through technology, augmented biology or the internet of things . Our actions, as well as our purchases, have the objective of making us feel some kind of connection, hence the study is called ‘The Art of Feeling More’. Not only that, it also reinforces the message of the Lexus NX launch that, thanks to its state-of-the-art intuitive control system, cozy interior and sensory performance, it will give us that connection.
What else does the study say?
Economic uncertainty drives people to migration, a decision that will also be driven by environmental factors. Furthermore, the WGSN study assures that 10% of the cities of the old continent will lose a quarter of their population in the next thirty years. A wake-up call for councils that, if they want to avoid this exodus, must develop sustainable and fair urban policies .
Holidays are a luxury that not all Spaniards have, even less after 18 months of lack of work in the service sector. For those who can enjoy them, the picture has also changed. Our vacation habits led us to crowded, fashionable places, something that 60% of the population rejects today. A conclusion that has led them to another of the great news of this summer: space travel. The space tourism industry is, after the trip of the two tycoons Virgin and Amazon, a piece of the cake of which 2.5 billion euros are expected .
Using the results of this report, Lexus asked four trendsetters to provide their views on the future. Among those selected are: British fashion star Daniel W. Fletcher, Parisian photographer Floriane de Lassée, Ukrainian ballet dancer Oleg Ivenko, and Italian journalist and culinary superstar Benedetta Parodi. If you want to know more about their conclusions, do not hesitate to read the report.
