Beaune is the main city of Côte d’Or, a major wine-producing region in Burgundy. It is divided into the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. It is a favorite region for wine tours and wine walks.

Beaune is known for the Hospice de Beaune, which was once a hospital but is now an impressive museum displaying medicine through the centuries. Two stations in Paris serve Beaune.
