Macron bans demonstrations in Paris related to escalating violence in Israel

The Minister of the Interior, Gerald Darmanin, announced this Thursday that demonstrations due to the increase in violence between Palestinians and Israelis are prohibited in Paris, the capital of the country. In a statement, Darmanin recalled that in 2014 protests took place on French soil in the face of a similar situation, which led to "public disorder." Seven years ago there were strong protests in Paris against Israel's actions against the Gaza Strip. There were also riots in the streets of the city, where a group of people attacked a synagogue and several Jewish businesses. Darmanin has now indicated that he has asked the Paris prefectural police to ban such demonstrations on Saturday, although he has not offered any further information on the matter. He has also asked the representatives of the French regions to be "alert" to possible marches and protests. The measures have been taken in light of the recent clashes in the Middle East.
