The history of the Mazda MX-5 is that of an automotive icon. This model celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2019 and did so with a special edition limited to 3,000 numbered units, of which 50 arrived in Spain. Its presentation at the Chicago Auto Show in February 1989 already raised sighs and passions, this little toy for adults promised from the first moment. Its conception, designed for the realization of the driver and driving pleasure, was quickly compensated with the million units sold for 2016. In order to keep the flame burning, Mazda has just presented a slight update of this Japanese roadster , with technological improvements and more aesthetic options.
The new Mazda MX-5 incorporates more than necessary equipment in 2021, such as digital radio (DAB) as standard from the most basic finish called Origin. They have also taken the opportunity to add compatibility with Apple CarPlay wirelessly, since until now we had to plug in the cable. Also, we found a new shade in the color palette called Deep Crystal Blue Mica . This dark blue like the deepest ocean is the protagonist of the special edition Blue & Red Edition which, as the name suggests, also uses burgundy in its combination. A tone that we already knew in the version presented on the occasion of the first centenary of Mazda as a car manufacturer, but along with a pearly white tone.
Blue & Red Edition
This special edition is the most remarkable novelty of the Miata 2021, a car capable of transmitting the driving heritage without the need for frills. Nor does it require the most powerful engine from its factory, with a 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G 184 hp and 6-speed manual transmission is capable of making you have a great time. It is appreciated that in an industry obsessed with data, performance and electrification, there are cars like the old ones. This Mazda MX-5 is one of them.
The Hiroshima firm has not wanted to complicate the buyer’s life, so the Blue & Red Edition offer is simple and unique. It is the Soft Top body, in soft canvas , which combines the elegant Deep Crystal Blue Mica tone with the burgundy headliner.
More equipped at a better price
As usual, this Blue & Red edition arrives quite loaded with technological equipment. The standard 17-inch wheels are signed by BBS and the white nappa leather interior upholstery stands out as if it were a supercar out of reach in our pocket. The quality of the finishes convinces you: the M azda MX-5 is always a good choice as a fancy car . I’m talking about those gifts that one gives oneself when one no longer hopes to increase the family or is just beginning his journey into adult life.
Some of the functionalities incorporated in this edition are the automatic climate control, the MZD Connect infotainment system on a 7-inch touch screen , BOSE sound system with 9 speakers, rear parking sensors and heated seats , among others. The Mazda MX-5 Blue & Red Edition is now available in dealerships from 37,000 euros.
The current fourth generation MX-5 is available in Soft Top and RF bodies , with a hard top and a unique silhouette. Both options have Skyactiv-G gasoline propellants, manufactured by the Japanese firm with the sole purpose of increasing the sensory experience behind the wheel. Its design, based on the Jinba Ittai philosophy that seeks the fusion between the driver and the machine, has fallen in love with more than 1 million drivers to date. What’s more, the Miata can be proud to hold the title as the vehicle with the most fan clubs in the world .
