If your child is entering a Memphis city school for the first time, you may have many questions. What school am I zoned for? How do I apply for meal benefits? Can my child ride the bus? How do I register my child?

Below you will find information on some of the most common questions about attending Memphis City Schools.

School zones

There are 209 schools in the Memphis City Schools district. In many cases, a child is zoned to the schools closest to him. Sometimes, however, the boundaries of an area may extend further than might be expected.

Vaccines

Three categories of students are required to show proof of immunization during enrollment: students new to Memphis City Schools, students entering kindergarten, and students entering 7th grade. The requirements for each are detailed in our Memphis City Schools registration guide.

School times

Schools in the Memphis City School District start as early as 7:15 a.m. or 9:00 a.m. To find out what time your child is supposed to be in school, see the full list of schools on the schools website. Memphis city schools.

Bus Routes

Depending on your child’s proximity to their school, Memphis City Schools may or may not provide transportation. To find out, simply enter your address on the Memphis City Schools bus stop eligibility form. If bus transportation is available, you will be able to view stop locations, routes, bus numbers, and more.
