After the extreme weather, Germany is threatened with another storm and extreme cold. Meteorologist Dominik Jung also has a surprising forecast for the weekend.
Kassel – After several violent storms in Germany, stormy times are already on the horizon again on Thursday (February 24th, 2022). The cold front from Tief Bibi ensures a windy to stormy afternoon. But this time it shouldn’t be as violent as the last storms.
In low-lying areas, 70 to 80 km/h should be possible, as diploma meteorologist Dominik Jung explains to wetter.net. Up to 100 km/h are expected at high altitudes. Because many trees were affected by the last storms, branches could break and trees fall over this time, the expert warns. Especially on motorway bridges, drivers have to be careful because of strong cross winds.
Weather in Germany: Storm and cold are coming – experts warn of ice
The cold front is predicted by several weather experts. By late evening it had swept across Germany. Thunderstorms, sleet and sleet are also to be expected. Other weather portals also predict storms, a cold front and thunderstorms for the day. The high Jannis brought a lot of sun on Wednesday (02/23/2022).
“It will be very windy to stormy again today with the passage of the cold front from Tief Bibi. You should be careful there,” explains the managing director of the weather service Q.met. Weather forecast for Germany: Lots of sun at the weekend
But after uncomfortable days, the forecast for the weekend has a surprise in store. From Saturday (February 26th, 2022) the weather should be nicer again, as Jung reports. The Hoch Kai brings sunshine to Germany. However, night frost is to be expected.
On Sunday (02/27/2022) and Monday (02/28/2022) there are up to ten hours of sunshine a day. According to long-term weather forecasts, March will also be warm and there will be hardly any precipitation.
Stormy weather in Germany: February was too warm
