In Nepal and parts of India, rain has come down from the sky. And the meteorologists cannot give the all-clear. Many people have lost their lives in landslides.
New Delhi – More than 100 people have died in heavy rains in India and neighboring Nepal in the past few days.
They were killed in landslides, buried under rubble of houses and mud or carried away by floods, officials in both countries announced on Wednesday.
At least 48 people died in Nepal, 46 in the nearby Indian state of Uttarakhand and 39 in the southern state of Kerala. Several other people are still missing. Hundreds were brought to safety. The rain had also badly damaged or completely destroyed roads, bridges, houses and other infrastructure. Meteorologists predicted more rain for the coming days. dpa
