I’m not going to deny it, when Ford introduced the Mustang Mach-E I was one of those who claimed revenge for using a car icon for an electric vehicle. I’m talking about the famous American pony that the grills of these cars wear, with an indomitable spirit and vintage character, far removed from the concept of a zero-emission car. The passage of time, as in everything, has helped me understand the firm’s decision. Ford aims to show a future capable of combining fun, authenticity and responsibility for the environment . They are not wrong, but only half right. After getting behind the wheel of this electric SUV, I make sure that the future is different, not worse. The sensations are far from being typical of a muscle car, but, in return, we are facing a Mustang that fits in the parking lot of a family.
We will talk at length about the first electric Ford electric car in this article. We have seen it appear, we have known it first hand and finally we can travel the first kilometers with the Ford Mustang Mach-E. Before going on to talk about its dynamic behavior, let’s review what is the commercial offer of this model in Spain. There are five versions of the Mach-E that arise from the combination of three power levels, two types of traction and two batteries of different sizes .
Today, if you go to the Ford dealership you can choose between the rear-wheel drive variants of 269 hp and 400 kilometers of autonomy or the 294 hp with 610 km of autonomy. If you opt for four-wheel drive (AWD) the autonomies are reduced to 400 kilometers for the 269 hp and 540 km for the 351 hp . The Mustang Mach-E GT is not yet available but it will have 487 hp and will reach 500 kilometers of autonomy, all data in the WLTP cycle. During our brief contact we were able to drive the model with more autonomy in the portfolio, the right choice for traveling or for those who want to use it during their day-to-day life.
