Netflix improves on the task of including more women and minorities

In 2020, Hispanic employees increased to 8.1% from 6%. The company had more than 8,000 full-time workers at the end of last year compared to fewer than 3,400 in 2017.

Netflix has gotten better at including women and minorities in its workforce over the past three years, outpacing its Silicon Valley peers, according to the entertainment company’s first ever report on diversity and inclusion.

In 2020 women made up 47% of its workforce compared to 40% in 2017. The company said it made similarly-sized advances to include female employees in leadership and technical positions. However, women still represent less than 35% of technical positions.

Netflix also said that at the end of 2020, 8% of its employees were black, more than double the proportion at the end of 2017. Hispanic employees increased to 8.1% from 6%, said the company, which tracks data from race and ethnicity only in the United States. Rather, your gender data is global.

Netflix also has a higher percentage of black or Hispanic employees than Google or Facebook, Apple still surpasses that.
