There is a weather warning for the Ahrweiler district, which has been badly affected by the flood disaster. But the levels are only rising slightly at the moment.
Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler – Despite the predicted thunderstorms with heavy rain, the disaster control team is only assuming a slight increase in the water level for the Ahr.
Local floods could occur on smaller rivers, it said on Tuesday lunchtime. “The emergency services on site are informed and other emergency services have already been put on standby,” explained the crisis team.
Precipitation quantities and water levels are constantly monitored and evaluated. The disaster control team is in constant contact with the German Weather Service (DWD) and the flood reporting service at the Rhineland-Palatinate State Office for the Environment.
The Ahrweiler district was particularly hard hit by the flood disaster in Rhineland-Palatinate three weeks ago. The number of people who had lost their lives in the flood in the Ahr valley had risen to 138 by Monday.
For the north of Rhineland-Palatinate and parts of North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse, a DWD level 2 severe weather warning has been in effect since midday. In the night of Wednesday, the showers and thunderstorms should slowly subside. dpa
