Organized drug crime raid

In no less than three federal states and in the Netherlands, officials have taken action against the illegal trade in drugs. Among other things, more than 26,000 packages of medicines were confiscated.

Essen – Investigators in North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria and the Netherlands have hit the illegal drug trade. 150 officers were on duty that night, said the customs investigation office in Essen.

Four arrest warrants and numerous search warrants were carried out. More than 26,000 packages of illegal drugs, around 56,000 euros, cryptocurrency worth 6,400 euros and more than 1,000 gold and silver coins, luxury watches and handbags as well as a high-quality car were confiscated.

An eight-person group is suspected of being behind the illegal trade, especially in prescription sexual enhancers. They were sold on a large number of websites on the Internet.

The funds presumably came from Asia and were smuggled in via Hungary, stored in Germany and sent by post to customers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The group proceeded in a conspiratorial manner. The four main suspects were arrested. They are 32, 33, 34 and 49 years old and have used various straw people. Cash tracking dog “Luke” sniffed out more than 30,000 euros in a money hiding place on one of the suspects.

The income from the trade should amount to over 3.5 million euros. The sales tax damage amounts to more than half a million euros. The investigation and the evaluation of the evidence on behalf of the public prosecutor’s office in Essen are ongoing.

A spokeswoman for the Essen public prosecutor spoke of an unscrupulous approach to health. In North Rhine-Westphalia, the measures took place in Duisburg, Kamp-Lintfort, Krefeld, Moers and Wuppertal. In Bavaria, the district of Kitzingen was affected. The strike was preceded by extensive investigations that were almost two years old. dpa
