It’s been a few years now, and I still remember it, when a Taiwanese company called Lenovo took over the PC business of the blue giant IBM in 2004. It has rained a lot since then. Almost a billion were to blame for the fact that the personal computers of the American firm were from then on the Lenovo brand. A firm that has just shown its arsenal for the Christmas campaign, also showing leadership in the Spanish market. It already is in the world, according to IDC and Gartner, but in Spain they also rise to the first place with a 34.2 percent share in sales of computers for the private consumer. But now Lenovo also wants to lead the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) in its products. And if what they say they are going to market in the coming months becomes a reality, they will undoubtedly succeed.
With other cutting-edge technologies such as augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) Lenovo has already made it clear which way to go. But now it launches the first glasses that are freed from cables thanks to the fact that they connect directly to the PC or the smartphone. With the new Lenovo Mirage glasses, the experience is much more immersive thanks to WorldSense ™ motion tracking technology and the Google Daydream virtual reality platform. Along with the glasses is the Mirage Camera, a pocket-sized camera that simplifies the technology needed to capture photos and videos in 3D with its 13 MP dual fisheye and 180 x 180 ° field of view. Thus, users will be able to record their best moments and reproduce them in virtual reality over and over again.
In the field of augmented reality Lenovo also tightens the pegs on its opponents and competitors with the recent announcement of Star Wars ™: Jedi Challenges, which comes with the Lenovo Mirage AR glasses, which work with a smartphone, either Android or IOS , and the lightsaber command.
But where Lenovo really accelerates, and we will see in the coming months, is in the field of artificial intelligence. We could already see it at the Mobile World Congress last February in Barcelona, and although it has been slow to reach the Spanish market, it will do so in the first quarter of 2019. The Lenovo Smart Display with Google Assistant intends to play from you to you with the Portal and Portal + de Facebook, which will also arrive in Spain on the same date, and with Google Home Hub, presented last October and which is also expected to arrive in Spain for the first half of 2019.
Lenovo Smart Display, in its two versions of 8 and 10 inches, allows you to use technology at home in a more comfortable, intuitive and easy to share way. Users will be able to turn it into a command center for their connected smart home devices, from lighting to heating, and moreover, control it by voice or manually. Use Google Assistant to show the user directions on Google Maps, watch videos on YouTube, make video conferences with friends through Google Duo, listen to music, … Lenovo Smart Displays are equipped with the Qualcomm® Home Hub platform, and will cost between 199 and 249 euros.
Also with artificial intelligence, but this time with Amazon’s Alexa, Lenovo will market this Christmas the Smart Tab M10 & P10, tablets that are activated by voice and are focused on the home. These new devices integrate Deep Amazon Alexa, which offers immersive Alexa Show Mode visual experiences to improve the way users interact with their music or control their Smart Home devices, for example. The Lenovo Smart Tab also integrate speakers enabled with voice recognition and a high definition screen, and can be purchased from 199 euros.
Also the Lenovo Yoga 730 notebook (13 and 15 inches) comes equipped with AI. Harness the power of artificial intelligence to deliver smart hands-free assistance. And with built-in Microsoft Cortana and Amazon Alexa assistants it offers more options and recognizes voice commands from anywhere in the room.
And this is just the beginning, they say in the Chinese brand that has risen to the leadership of the national and world market in sales of personal computers. “AR and AI are the immediate future.” And what is to come, … with more artificial intelligence and mixed reality, which combines augmented and virtual reality, we hope to see it, try it, and tell about it in this Blog.
