A few weeks ago the planned date for the launch of a new generation of the Peugeot 308 was revealed. It seems that we will have to wait until spring 2021 to witness a qualitative leap, necessary given the technological evolution that competing models such as the Seat have shown León 2020. Facing the last commercial years is difficult in a constantly changing market, hence Peugeot has made a slight facelift to the current 308 . A restyling that would go unnoticed if it weren’t for the incorporation of the new batch of Peugeot i-Cockpit. This dashboard continues to raise controversy but the firm bets on it, and it is no wonder. Peugeot has once again won the award for Best Car of the Year in Europe (COTY) with the 208 and its e-208 electric variants.
As we can see in the images, the new Peugeot 308 sports an imposing blue color called Vertigo Blue . This tone is achieved by means of three layers of paint and will fit perfectly with the daring and youthful character of the most frequent client. New wheels are also available and the Zircon model, with a 16-inch diamond finish, becomes an option from the Allure equipment. For the GT trim level (the top of the range) the Black Pack package is available, which modifies the chrome parts for a glossy black tone. The modified elements are: front grille and logo, trims for the indicators and headlights, side windows, 18-inch Saphir Black aluminum wheels and the roof bars in the SW wagon variant.

The Peugeot i-Cockpit has become the hallmark of French models, despite the voices against it. The new Peugeot 308 incorporates the latest generation of this dashboard designed against the current, with a flattened steering wheel on which we find the digital instrument panel. This instrumentation becomes 10 inches and has the 3D effect presented in the Peugeot 208 . The central touch screen is capacitive and the buttons on the central panel disappear permanently. That is, even the air conditioning must be managed through the screen. This solution, which seems so modern, becomes an inconvenience in case of traveling alone, since we will not be able to change the temperature without taking our eyes off the road. The infotainment system incorporates Mirror Screen technology compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay to bring the phone’s applications to the central screen. We can also use browsers such as Waze but, it is worth remembering that Peugeot has the specialist TomTom to develop its navigation systems.
A more complete and efficient range
Peugeot has simplified the commercial offering of the new Peugeot 308 Saloon and SW, with improvements in all trim levels. We start from three versions ( Active, Allure and GT ) that can be completed with the extra called “Pack”, a plus of comfort solutions. The Active access model incorporates Mirror Screen technology , electrically folding mirrors and fog lights . The intermediate variant (Allure) adds hands-free access and start and adaptive cruise control. The GT Pack equipment includes the 18-inch aluminum wheels, the side security pack and the boot rails in the SW bodywork.
This restyling serves to modernize the supply of gasoline and diesel engines of the Peugeot 308. The customer can choose between two petrol three – cylinder blocks 110 and 130 hp, the latter with 6 – speed manual gearbox or automatic 8. The Diesel engine 100 and 130 hp , also with the option of the EAT8. In terms of driving assistance and safety systems, the 308 has features such as adaptive cruise control, 180-degree rear view camera and Park Assist function , emergency braking, active lane departure alert and signal recognition. traffic among many others.
