The pick up segment is not very small in Spain, except for the commercial world and off-road enthusiasts. Two models that make us believe in the survival of this type of boxes, with a clear playful and effective approach for adventurous users but also workers who require their 4×4 capabilities . European pollution regulations mean a difficult approval cut for these vehicles, something that does not happen in South America. For this reason, firms such as Peugeot plan to transfer their focus of competition there with novelties such as the Peugeot Landtrek . This pick up had to demonstrate its reliability, robustness and quality in a rising market and it has done so by conquering the Argentine Tierra del Fuego: Ushuaia .
Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the world, located in the extreme south of the Argentine Republic. It is considered the city of the ‘end of the world’, since it is located just before Antarctica. The expedition of the three Peugeot Landtrek needed 34 days to travel the 17,000 kilometers that separate Los Cabos (Baja California, Mexico) to Ushuaia . The route crossed Veracruz at a health peak caused by covid, so they had to remain confined for a few days and redefine the route. Plans changed but the Landtreks did not flinch thanks to the technological gift of their traction system , capable of adapting to all types of terrain.
The “one-on” pick-up segment, due to the load capacity of its box, is the most important outside Europe. For the firms present, it represents about half of the commercial registrations in Latin America, which translates into 400,000 units in the Latin continent (2020) and 2.4 million vehicles worldwide. Taking the Peugeot Landtrek to the “end of the world” is a declaration of intent before its launch, thus demonstrating its ability to overcome challenges while connecting the Americas.
