Review: POCO F3 has good quality, price and performance

Since I started testing Xiaomi phones, I have noticed version after version (regardless of the family) that the quality of the photographs and the performance of the batteries remain a constant in the value offer that the company gives its users.

In this case, the POCO F3 is no different. This 6.67-inch phone, 120HZ AMOLED screen, has three rear cameras: a 48 MP main, an 8MP wide angle and a 5 MP telephoto. In this family the 2MP bokeh camera that existed in the previous version is eliminated.

Design

In terms of design, its weight stands out, since at only 196 grams it is a “large” phone but lighter than many others.

It has a large screen, but rather narrow bezels, so almost the entire front panel is used. The finishes are glossy on the model I reviewed – black – but it’s not one of those phones where fingerprint smudges remain all over the place.

On the back we also find the module with the three protruding cameras, which can be a bit uncomfortable for some people, but in my case it was no problem.

On the right side we find the volume and power buttons (where the fingerprint is also configured), both are easily distinguished by touch. The phone also has facial recognition – which works quite well – and obviously password unlock.

Its use

The battery is 4,520 mAh, which for me resulted in the following: the phone with practically no use (only receiving emails and messages) had a life of 4 days; When it was used to watch videos, listen to music and I mean to say that playing video games, but it is not one of my hobbies, it lasted all day. Let’s say that in extensive use of what I normally consume, it had a good response.

Now, thanks to its Snapdragon 870 processor, the phone is fast in its processes, it allows you to take advantage of multitasking functionalities. In addition, thanks to the initial possibility of being able to configure it for work and personal life or just work, it allows us to use it in a fluid way for either of the two environments, keeping them as divided as possible.

The 120 Hz refresh rate also helps us to have a smooth experience when browsing the internet, using social networks, watching videos, etc. This cup of soda can be run manually, it is not something that is done in an automated way.

Another advantage is its AMOLED screen with Full HD + resolution, which in this case gave a great experience in terms of image with a higher brightness, in addition, the images do not look very distorted if you change the viewing angles of the smartphone.

As for audio, now the phone has a double front speaker and Hi-Fi sound. In that sense it also has a good performance, perhaps some flaws in the bass and a not so clean sound when it is at maximum levels.

Regarding photographs, Xiaomi has always been characterized by delivering good photographs with its devices and that is not the exception with the POCO F3. Only occasionally can there be a lot of saturation in the images but for this you only have to check the conditions of the HDR and the AI, as well as the photography mode that is being used.

In general there are good levels of contrast and brightness, in night mode it works quite well, and I think it is above several smartphones in this range.

Conclusion after using the Poco F3

For less than 10,000 pesos, users can find a phone with good features, some found in smartphones of more than 20,000 pesos from other brands.

Its capabilities and characteristics make it a smartphone that responds well, quickly to the needs of the user, that has good performance in terms of battery, screen and cameras and that for its price is a good competitor for those who choose this range. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Xiaomi brand ranked second in smartphone sales in Mexico so far in 2021, with an internal growth of 137%.
