The Seat Tarraco has decided to increase both its efficiency and its attractiveness, with the introduction of the FR sports finish and the new plug-in hybrid mechanics, which give the model a differentiated aesthetic and new equipment elements, in addition to making it the first plug-in hybrid of the brand. In addition, this PHEV version, with 13 kWh batteries and a range of more than 50 kilometers, becomes the most powerful Tarraco in the range, thanks to its 150 hp (110 kW) gasoline engine and its 116 hp electric (85 kW), which together will offer a maximum power of 245 hp (180 kW).
Since its launch, the Tarraco, produced in Wolfsburg (Germany), has contributed significantly to expanding the presence of the Spanish firm globally. Now, with the incorporation of the FR finish and plug-in hybrid technology, it will become a key element in achieving Seat’s objectives, especially those that have to do with its strategy towards electrification. In this way, the Tarraco PHEV becomes the first step that the Spanish brand takes in this direction. But it will not be the last, as the launch of six new electric and plug-in hybrid Seat and Cupra models is already expected until the beginning of 2021.
In this same sense, Luca de Meo , SEAT president, points out that “the plug-in hybrid Tarraco perfectly illustrates our strategy towards more sustainable mobility, and at the same time preserves the dynamism and fun at the wheel typical of any Seat”. “The Tarraco is going to be one of the few models available with a plug-in hybrid engine in the large SUV segment, and we believe it has great potential,” adds the president.
The new Tarraco FR PHEV has already been presented at the last Frankfurt Motor Show , where it stole the glances of the attendees. However, we will have to wait until next year 2020 for both the FR trim and the PHEV engine to be available in our market. Then, the new version will become the top of the range of this seven-seater SUV from Seat.
