Imagine that the objects in your home knew what time you got up and what time you went to bed. Imagine that they could even know when you are home; that they know exactly what your needs are and when to provide them. Imagine that the devices in your home could be more efficient, so much so that they knew you even better yourself, to make you feel much more secure. That is the idea of SmartThings, the smart home technology in which Samsung has set out to stand out and be a pioneer.
But how does ‘the internet of things’ work ? The time has come to bring this concept into your home and turn it into something tangible. To do this, we are going to explain how to control all your devices, applications and entertainment channels from a single monitor, and to control them with a single remote.
With the Samsung SmartThings ™ app, your TV becomes the center of your home. The great advantage is that you can forget about multiple screens and controls, because you can control everything that interests you in your virtual world integrated into the same screen and through a single remote control. And it doesn’t matter that these are not from the same brand!
We teach you step by step how to have all your devices and applications under control, literally, in the palm of your hand.
Prepared?
Step 1: Download the SmartThings ™ App on your mobile
It is the first thing you have to do before starting with the configuration of your television. SmartThings ™ comes pre-installed on Galaxy S8 and later smartphones.
And, if you don’t have a Samsung, don’t worry! This application is compatible with Android and iOS devices.
Step 2: Connect your TV to the App
You just have to turn on your TV, and the Smartphone’s Bluetooth will automatically detect it (make sure it is active on your mobile).
Just press Connect and follow the instructions that will appear on your mobile to configure the WiFi, and also to accept terms and conditions. Remember: You don’t need the controller, since you can type with the keyboard that appears on the screen!
Step 3: Select which applications you want to have on hand
You are almost done! The next step is to configure the Smart Hub display . Now you can access your YouTube account, Spotify … to control them from your monitor.
Thus, from the Apps bar you control all your devices and all your applications and entertainment channels, without leaving the same screen. It is like an integrated menu of everything that interests you in the virtual field.
The universal guide also offers you personalized recommendations according to your tastes based on a new function: ‘For you’ . If you are subscribed, this screen will show you news, current and upcoming TV content, 4K content …
But wait, there’s more. Thanks to the App that you have installed, SmartThings ™, you can also have this universal guide on your mobile.
Step 4: Control all your devices with the One Remote Control
This is one of the main advantages and that best sums up the concept of the internet of things offered by Samsung. The time has come to stop having your living room full of controls and screens , and to have a single remote control from which to control everything that interests you: your music, your series, your notifications, your calendar …
Step 5: Connect to Steam to have more than 6,000 games
Steam is one of the most popular PC gaming platforms, where you can have games like Battleground, PES 2018 or Dota 2. Whether you already have an account or not, we recommend that you download the Steam Link application and connect it to your new TV.
And if you are already a player, now you can integrate one more of your interests into your universal guide. In addition, being a local connection, it will not depend on the speed of the internet or the latency of the network.
You already have all your interests integrated to access them in the most comfortable way: on a single monitor and through a single command. What did we tell you? This is the true internet of things. Welcome to the 21st century. Now, relax on your sofa, and enjoy!
