As quickly as the snow came last weekend, it was gone as quickly – until now. Because the next onset of winter comes at the weekend.
Kassel – From Friday (January 14th, 2022) it should come, the cold north wind – and it comes to stay. For Germany this means: the first, isolated snowflakes will fall in the northeast on Friday evening. But that shouldn’t have been it yet, because the winter and the weather only really pick up speed in the following days. Actually, a very cold and snowy winter was assumed – much colder than the previous one. But that has not happened so far. Rather the opposite has happened.
The starting shot for the winter comeback is on Sunday. According to information from The Weather Channel, snowfall will set in in the south from late afternoon. In the north and the center, precipitation initially falls as sleet or rain. But already during the night and on Monday morning, the snowfall should predominate.
The further you look to the west of the country, the sooner the snow should turn into rain again. This means that difficult road conditions can be expected at the beginning of the week. In places it can be very slippery and slippery on the streets. According to information from The Weather Channel, it is not yet possible to say exactly where the smoothness will occur.

Onset of winter in Germany: will the snow storm follow on Monday?
One thing is certain, however: the snow is accompanied by a gusty north wind. And there should also be one or the other squall in the east and at high altitudes. On Monday the weather could be stormy, because a small but intense low pressure area intensifies the snowfall. Heavy squalls and blizzard-like conditions are possible.
So there is a risk of a strong onset of winter from Sunday evening. The snow should definitely come. However, it is not yet certain whether there will be storms or even a snowstorm.
But does the snow stay there? – Yes, but not everywhere. This means that the snow line in Europe is shifting a little. In the lowlands, the experts at The Weather Channel expect 1 to 5 centimeters of snow, in the northeast it can be as much as 10 centimeters and in the mountains up to 20 centimeters.
