Icebergs or icebergs are a large mass of floating ice detached from a glacier, which protrudes from the surface of the sea. Over time, these blocks of ice break off due to their own weight and the effect of gravity. Also, most icebergs are born in Antarctica and Greenland.
As part of the glacier enters the water and floats, the ice becomes increasingly unstable. Little by little, due to storms and temperature changes, cracks open in the ice that transform it into an iceberg. Likewise, icebergs can have a life of up to ten years before melting.
On the other hand, icebergs can reach a length of tens of kilometers. This, coupled with their unpredictable course, makes them a great danger to ships navigating the icy waters of the poles.
In addition, the upper part of icebergs is made up of snow that melts quickly (and is sometimes useful for birds, penguins or bears), while the submerged part is a block of hard ice that sometimes touches the sea bottom.
