Spielberg signs Gabriel Labelle to play himself in his biopic

The name Steven Spielberg is known to the world as the most popular film director in history. A living myth within the cinephile imaginary and with good reason, because if one reviews the director’s filmography, no one has accumulated so many great commercial titles in the history of the seventh art: Jaws, ET The Extraterrestrial, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List o Saving Private Ryan are just some of the great masterpieces that have moved a whole generation. Who would be the best then to direct a biopic about himself? Well indeed he and already has the perfect face for his adolescence, the young actor Gabriel LaBelle. The film is currently entitled The Fabelmans and in it, Spielberg has already chosen who will be the ones who will make his closest relatives. Paul Dano (Little Miss Sunchine, Wells of Ambition) will play her father, while four-time Oscar nominee Michelle Williams will play her mother. On the other hand, Seth Rogen, who is currently promoting his latest book, will play the director’s favorite uncle. This story will be written as it could not be otherwise by Spielberg himself, although raised with a regular collaborator, Tony Kushner (Munich, Lincoln, West Side Story). Production is expected to begin this summer, with a release planned for mid / late 2022, with the medium Deadline who broke the news of Gabriel Labelle’s addition to the project in which he will play the teenage future director. However, The Fabelmans will review various stages of his life, with which another choice is expected for his younger version and perhaps someone who offers an adult variant. The director has always highly valued the friendships he had as a child and is therefore personally selecting the performers who will reflect those nostalgic roles. In his career he is more than used to working with children, a good example of this is that he directed a very young Christian Bale in the Empire of the Sun to Drew Barrymore in ET and Dakota Fanning in The War of the Worlds. Next year we will be able to discover what the life of this incredible director was like before he became the giant of an industry that still owes him a lot.
