The weather in summer 2021 is going crazy in Germany. The storm warnings can be counted instead of hours of sunshine. We’ll keep you up to date in the news ticker.
Update from July 14th, 12.55 p.m.: The fire brigade in Koblenz is building flood protection walls due to the rising levels on the Rhine and Moselle. In the Neuendorf district, the emergency services erect the supports of a wall, as the fire brigade reports. This should be closed on Thursday. Another protective wall in the same urban area should therefore be erected in the further course of the measures.
The fire brigade appeals to residents whose houses and properties have already been affected by previous floods to take the necessary safety measures in advance. The technical relief organization will provide sandbags from Wednesday lunchtime.
Update from July 14th, 12.30 p.m.: An 81-year-old has been missing since Monday night. The man allegedly fell into the Jagst while he was working on his house near the shore. The river floods after heavy rains. The search for a police spokesman is difficult due to the weather in the Heilbronn district. Both the strong current of the river and the softened bank area posed a risk for the search parties. “Because there is currently a lot of floating debris in the Jagst, the use of boats is not possible,” explains the spokesman: “We do not expect it that the person can still be saved alive. ”At the same time, the search continues where emergency services can act safely.
Update from July 14th, 12 noon: Because of the floods in Erkrath near Düsseldorf, about 100 residents of a dormitory have to leave their accommodation. A spokeswoman for the city said the accommodation for refugees is in an old school building, where the basement and the sports hall were full of water. But there is no danger to the residents.
Update from July 14th, 11.45 a.m.: The district of Hof in Bavaria has repealed the disaster. The district office in Hof announced that the weather situation has relaxed in the past few hours. But there is still a lot to do. The emergency services are on the road throughout the district to clean up.

Update from July 14th, 11:20 am: In Erkrath, North Rhine-Westphalia, residents were encouraged in the morning via social media to “not produce any more wastewater and if possible only use the toilet.” Use of the dishwasher ”should be omitted“ so as not to aggravate the situation. ”Due to the persistent heavy rainfall, the sewers are very overcrowded.
The Düssel is already overflowing its banks in some places. Motorists were asked to stay away from the water masses in certain places. You shouldn’t drive your car through flooded areas either.
Storms in Germany: Feared of continuous or heavy rain until Thursday morning
Update from July 14th, 10.45 a.m.: In the Ore Mountains a person was swept away by the flash floods and has been missing since then. The chances of survival are rated as low.
Update from July 14th, 9:50 a.m.: Storms can be expected for parts of Germany until Thursday, as the German Weather Service warns. This applies to North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and parts of Hesse. Extreme continuous rain or prolonged heavy rain could lead to 50 to 100 liters of precipitation per square meter by Thursday morning. Locally up to 200 liters are possible.
Update from July 14th, 9:30 a.m.: As a result of heavy rain, a driver was trapped in an underpass in Hagen in North Rhine-Westphalia. The fire brigade had to free the man. Elsewhere in the city, too, there were many problems during the night. According to a police spokesman, so much rainwater collected in the underpass near the main train station that several cars could no longer proceed. The fire department had to get the drivers out of their vehicles, said the spokesman. And further: “We have various places in the city where road closures are currently in place.” Slopes have slipped and roadways have been flooded and partially damaged.

First report from July 14th:
Munich – The summer of 2021 makes headlines almost every day. Namely through disaster reports in the course of the inconsistent weather. In addition to sunny sections, these days also offer heavy downpours with severe weather potential *, sometimes even hail showers and, with unpleasant regularity, thunderstorms *. This has been going on for weeks now, because one low pressure area * follows the other.
Rivers overflowed their banks long ago, cellars overflowed, streets and underpasses sunk in the masses of water. The south of Germany * is particularly affected, but the thunderstorm cells often run across the Federal Republic and hardly spare any region. Emergency services are on duty day after day, night after night. The German Weather Service publishes new danger reports almost around the clock.
The short-term prospects * hardly promise any improvement. Precipitation * is also to be expected. The fact that the associated temperatures are not really summery is almost a given. Germany is in chaos of the weather. In a real summer mess. (mg) * merkur.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA
