Frankfurt / Main – Strike against child pornography: In a raid across Hesse, the police searched the homes of 35 men.
The 17 to 60-year-old suspects are said to have used the Internet for almost two years to obtain files showing the most serious acts of sexual abuse of infants and young children. During the searches, the investigators secured computers and data carriers, as the General Public Prosecutor’s Office in Frankfurt and the Hessian State Criminal Police Office in Wiesbaden announced on Thursday.
A total of 32 objects were searched from Monday to Wednesday. Almost 300 officers were in action. The investigators had tracked down the suspects through a tip from the operator of a filhosting service. The company based abroad had made the German authorities aware of the public links and the access to the files stored there. According to the investigations, these should have occurred between October 2017 and September 2019. Since July 1 of this year, the Criminal Code provides for a prison sentence of up to five years for the possession and procuring of child pornographic content. dpa
