An Austrian study has shown that testosterone levels in men increase with the vitamin D produced by the body after exposure to sunlight.
Research from the Medical University of Graz (Austria), published in the journal Clinical Endocrinology and based on analyzes of 2,299 subjects, revealed that men who had sufficient amounts of vitamin D also had a higher blood level of testosterone , the sex hormone masculine par excellence, which enhances the libido . This hormone also performs other essential functions, in both men and women, such as maintaining muscle strength and bone density.
On the other hand, in all the subjects studied, the levels of testosterone and vitamin D appeared to reach their highest level in the month of August , and to fall to their lowest level in March and the winter months.
