The egg is one of the 24 products contemplated in the basic basket and also one of the most requested in Mexican homes. However, this, like other foods, has been hit by inflation, resulting in a rise in its cost.
In order to take care of the pockets of Mexicans, the Federal Consumer Protection Office (Profeco) indicated what the price per kilo of eggs should be and which brands sell it cheaper.
According to the institution’s ‘Who’s Who’ program, a kilo of white eggs in bulk has an average cost of 42.92 pesos, while the red one is positioned at 47 pesos.
The cheapest egg brands are:
- Aurrera egg, package of 12 pieces, white, 31.77 pesos
- Egg Precissimo, package of 12 white pieces, 32.64 pesos
- Tehuacán egg, package of 12 white pieces, 33.12 pesos
- Egg Calvarito, package of 12 white pieces, 33.46 pesos
- Bachoco egg, package of 12 white pieces, 34.65 pesos
On the other hand, the most expensive in its presentation of 12 pieces, were:
- San Juan egg, package of 12 red pieces, 36.43 pesos.
- Bachoco egg, 12-piece red package, 36.65 pesos
- Guadalupe egg, package of 12 white pieces, 36.80 pesos.
- San Juan egg, package of 12 white pieces, 36.84 pesos.
Finally, Profeco pointed out that for the 30-piece packages, the most expensive were:
- San Juan egg, package with 30 red pieces, 83.44 pesos.
- San Juan egg, package with 30 white pieces, 81.29 pesos.
- Tehuacán egg, package with 30 white pieces, 81.39 pesos.
