Quentin Tarantino is possibly one of the most film-consuming directors in the entire industry. To the point that those who know him say that he only talks about cinema. This movie-goer or movie-goer ( not to be confused with a movie buff ) has always captured all the references in the world of the seventh art that he found attractive like a photocopier, turning them into pop icons, as did Andy Warhol. That is why the dance of Travolta and Uma Thurman is something that everyone has in their memory or when we see our friends in suits walking down the street we think of Reservoir Dogs . But unlike the directors he idolizes, the production of his cinema has always been conditioned and directed towards quality and not quantity. A reflection of this is his “brief” filmography, as Tarantino is already thinking about retirement.
In an interview on a podcast via MovieMaker, the director talked about the last five great movies from his favorite directors. A year ago he spoke about his plans to retire after his tenth film and when he touched on this subject again, he inferred his idea of retiring in style. “Usually his worst movies are his latest movies . That’s the case for most of the Golden Age directors who ended up making their last films in the late 1960s and 70s, then that ended up being the case for most New Hollywood directors who made their last films through. the end of the 80s and 90s ”, stated the director.
That Tarantino already thinks about retirement is something that he even jokes about himself: “Maybe I shouldn’t do another movie because I’d be so happy to drop the mic (…) That’s the frustrating part… a lot of the really great directors are as if his penultimate movie had been incredible. His possible retirement also coincides with his recent paternity, which invites him to move more towards writing, abandoning his vision as a director. “I feel that this is the time for the third act (of my life) to lean a little more towards the literary, which would be good as a new father, as a new husband,” sentenced the director of Once upon a time in Hollywood that curiously, will release the movie book on June 29 in the United States.
