One of Naples’ most prized great ladies, the Eurostars Hotel Excelsior has an idyllic seafront location with views of Mount Vesuvius and Castel dell’Ovo, right on the Lungomare promenade. Built in 1908, the hotel retains its belle-époque glamor – think Carrera marble, luxurious silk paneling, and elegant Murano chandeliers – but has the contemporary amenities travelers expect today, like free Wi-Fi and air-conditioning. Its 123 rooms and suites feature high ceilings and herringbone parquet floors with modern sofas and chairs. We recommend splurging on a room with an ocean view, ideally one with a private terrace, though rooms facing the courtyard are delightfully quiet. While it doesn’t have a pool or spa yet, the hotel does have a gym, as well as an indoor and outdoor rooftop restaurant.
