The beautiful photos of mothers breastfeeding during quarantine to normalize breastfeeding in public

It seems incredible that at this point in the year we have to continue to emphasize that breastfeeding in public is something natural and that mothers do not have to hide nor do others have any right to point out these women for feeding their children.

But unfortunately, it is still necessary. Not only famous mothers are shown breastfeeding their children to show how beautiful the moment is. There are also campaigns that try to illustrate the moment to normalize it. This is the case with #FeedIn, a project of the Association of Nursing Mothers of the United Kingdom (ABM).

His proposal: that mothers send photographs of themselves breastfeeding their children while they carry out daily activities at home, as an illustrative way to normalize breastfeeding in public also while they stay at home due to Covid-19.

Thus, there are snapshots of mothers breastfeeding while playing with their older brother, telecommuting, having breakfast or simply relaxing listening to music. Because breastfeeding is that simple and natural.

You can also participate

If you are breastfeeding your child, they encourage you to participate in the project by sending a photo of yourself or a short video (about 10 seconds long) breastfeeding in an everyday situation to [email protected]

You can take the photo or record the video with the phone, it can even be a screenshot of a video call conversation, if you are feeding your child while talking.

The association will share a selection of the images and videos on its social networks with the hashtag #FeedIn.

This campaign follows on from her two previous social awareness proposals: #FeedOn (2019) and #FeedMe (2018) to normalize breastfeeding away from home in London and across the UK. Now, in 2020, it’s #FeedIn’s turn.

Here are some of the proposals that have come to the project.

Sucking milk, two hands

Having breakfast

Teleworking

Listening to music

While “they make up”

Weaving

Large family

With pet included

Chatting

Just resting

But if you still want to continue enjoying these beautiful images, do not hesitate to click on this link, which is nourished by the photographs sent by mothers.

Remember that you too can be one of them. Go ahead and send your most representative photo of your day to day!

Breastfeeding in children older than one year: breastfeeding from 12 months is not spoiling

The first thing that caused me doubt when writing the post was the title. I have often heard the terms prolonged breastfeeding to refer to children older than 12 months who are still nursing. Or breastfeeding in older children. And yet, I get the impression that these terms refer to something that is not normal, as if breastfeeding had to have a short duration or children beyond the age of 2 years were considered too old to breastfeed.

Breast cancer during breastfeeding: a difficult diagnosis to face

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in Spain. So far this year, 35,000 new cases have been diagnosed in our country according to the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), and it is estimated that one in eight women will have breast cancer at some point in her life. However, it has a high survival rate: more than 90 percent overcome it or it becomes chronic, achieving a great quality of life.

My baby is very distracted while breastfeeding: why it happens and how to get...

During the first weeks of life, breastfed babies often only want to be at their mother's breast. The shots are long (practically one with another), the baby's movements are slow and calm, and the exchange of glances between mother and child is constant.

Mixed breastfeeding in twins: how to organize to feed two babies

The WHO recommends that babies under six months be exclusively breastfed. Mothers who have twins or fraternal twins are capable of producing milk for both of them, since we know that the greater the stimulation, the greater the production of milk; women in these cases can produce... up to 2 liters of milk a day!

Does your baby "tune in" to the nipple while nursing? Why does it do...

Does your baby play and touch the nipple that is free while he is sucking on the other one? This is a behavior popularly known as "tuning" (the child moves the nipple as if tuning a radio), and although it is completely normal and natural, it can be uncomfortable for some mothers.
