This photography contest is about the beauty of gardens, plants and flowers, unique natural spaces … The International Garden Photographer of the Year is one of the main world competitions specialized in botanical photography.
This contest is divided into 11 main categories along with numerous special prizes, including Young Garden Photo of the Year and an exclusive category for mobile devices (Gardens on the Go). It is organized in association with the Royal Botanic Gardens of Kew (located to the southwest of London, England), the famous botanical garden of 120 hectares of surface (not in vain it is one of the most important seed banks of the planet) where the winning images, followed by a continuous program of traveling exhibitions both in the UK and in other countries around the world. Recall that Kew Gardens have been on the list of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO since 2003.

From portrait to panoramic, quirky and fun to utterly wonderful, these photos reflect the timeless appeal of the garden and vividly display images of a green planet. Categories include Plant Beauty, Garden Wildlife, and Wildflower Landscapes, among others.
In 2017, the winner was Lee Acaster (also first prize in the category of trees and forests) for his photography Left.
In 2018, an image of the vast ecological region known as the Cerrado in Brazil by Marcio Cabral of Brasilia, Brazil, was raised as the best photo of the year at the pageant.
The first prize of the contest has a unique prize of 7,000 euros.
