If you’re looking for some great museums in Frankfurt, head to the River Main , which runs through Frankfurt’s city center and is lined on both sides by some of the best museums in Germany. The area is called Museumsufer (Museum riverbank) and you can buy a Museumufer ticket that offers admission to 33 exhibition venues in Frankfurt.
Another attraction in the area is the largest flea market in the city on Saturdays. Other notable museums are located in the old town of Frankfurt.
Museo Städel
Located on the riverside, this fine arts museum houses one of the most important Old Master collections in Germany. The Städel, which is often compared to that of the Louvre in Paris, offers a fascinating glimpse of seven hundred years of history of European art from the 14th century until the end of the 20th century. Museum for Modern Art Frankfurt
The Museum of Modern Art in Frankfurt is not only famous for its extensive collection, which has focused on international art since 1960 and features masterpieces by Roy Lichtenstein, Joseph Beuys, Andy Warhol and Gerhardt Richter, but also for its impressive architecture. Designed by the Viennese architect Hans Hollering, the museum is triangular in shape and is called “the piece of cake” by the locals. German film museum
Film fans shouldn’t miss the Deutsches Filmmuseum (German Film Museum), located on the Frankfurt riverbank. The museum explores the art and history of film, from its beginnings with the magic lantern and the camera obscura, to the replica studios and special effects of today’s film industry.
There are also many hands-on exhibits; you can recreate a car chase or take a magic carpet ride over Frankfurt with the help of a blue screen. And of course there is a movie theater, which presents all the films in their original version.

Senckenberg Museum
The Senckenberg Museum is one of the largest museums dedicated to natural history in Germany, and is a fascinating place for young and old.
The museum displays more than 400,000 exhibits, ranging from fossil amphibians, American mammoths, and Egyptian mummies, to many more of the museum’s most famous attractions. This includes Europe’s most diverse exhibits of large dinosaur skeletons, including an impressive Tyrannosaurus Rex. Schirn Kunstalle
Located in the center of Frankfurt’s Old Town, the Schirn Kunsthalle is the main exhibition venue for modern and contemporary art in the city.
