“The boss” has a new member on the team

“The boss” did not expect that: The ZDF commissioner loses one of her fellow investigators. In season 12 of the crime series, she has to integrate a new member into the team.

Munich – “Die Chefin” has been part of the circle of commissioners on German television since 2012. Now she has lost one of her colleagues for the second time.

Similar to investigator Jan Trompeter (Stefan Rudolf), his successor Maximilian Murnau (Christoph Schechinger) also got a dramatic end to the series in the script. In episode 2 of the 12th season – it starts on Friday at 8:15 p.m. – Chief Detective Vera Lanz (Katharina Böhm) and her colleague Paul Böhmer (Jürgen Tonkel) have to say goodbye to Murnau.

In the first episode with the title “Trugbild” Murnau investigates on the side of Lanz and Böhmer. The body of the 76-year-old tenant is found in an apartment in an old building in Munich. It looks like a break-in – but apparently there was nothing to get from the senior. “The boss” and her team have to dig deeper into the victim’s environment and into his or her biography. During the investigation, colleague Böhmer is then carelessly in danger. In the second episode it turns out that colleague Murnau has been carrying a dark secret with him for years. When Lanz and Böhmer realized what was going on with Murnau, the situation had already come to a head.

In his own words, saying goodbye to the series was not easy for Christoph Schechinger. He’s been there since season 8. Now he wants to have more time for other projects, he justifies his retirement. The new member of the team had to show up in a short time, as the leading actress Katharina Böhm reports. The shooting went very quickly, so a new colleague had to be technically good in order not to have to familiarize himself with it for a long time. Jonathan Hutter was thrown straight into the deep end. “It suits us perfectly,” says Böhm.

Hutter plays the ambitious young commissioner Korbinian Kirchner, an environmental activist with a clear idea of rules and regulations. Working at the side of his colleague Böhmer is not easy for him, after all, Böhmer has a somewhat dodgy past and likes to push the limits of the legal when it comes to getting information. In addition, when he was hired, Kirchner personally received a special order from the public prosecutor. Lanz and Böhmer suspect nothing of this.

So in season 12, the interpersonal relationships in the investigative team remain an exciting storyline that forms the bracket between the individual episodes. For the audience the question arises: will Kirchner be able to fulfill his mandate? And when does “The Boss” notice that something is wrong with Kirchner? dpa
