The Card Counter is the next film by the famous screenwriter and director Paul Schrader, known among other things for being one of the best writers that the seventh art has produced. The director had been coming off a string of uneven movies until The Reverend in 2017 put him back in the spotlight at the awards with an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
