When it comes to buying a new car , we are presented with endless questions that we must choose, such as the type of car we need or the equipment we want to include. However, there is another aspect that, although at first glance it may seem insignificant, the truth is that it ends up becoming a very important part of our purchase decision. And is that choosing the color of our future car is not easy, because we want it to be a suitable tone for the vehicle, while being consistent with our tastes and our needs. But, what is behind this choice that thousands of clients make every day around the world?
If one thing is clear, it is that white is king worldwide , having become the most chosen car color in the world, according to data from Axalta Coating Systems. No less than 39% of drivers opt for this color, which leads the classification for the seventh consecutive year. The data coincide with those of Seat, whose customers also mostly opt for white.
However, there are important differences between regions . For example, white is sweeping the Asian continent and, specifically, in China, where six out of ten cars sold are white. On the other hand, in Europe and the United States its share falls to 25%.
The same happens in the case of Seat , as white also prevails in the brand’s ten main markets, with the exception of Holland, where gray and black achieve the top positions in the ranking. The largest share of white in the main markets of the firm is taken by Spain, with 45% of sales.
In this sense, Jordi Font, from Seat’s Color & Trim department, helps us understand the reasons why white reigns above all other shades. “It is a clean, versatile color that in countries with a lot of light and heat in summer reflects the sunlight like the houses on the Mediterranean islands, which are white and help improve well-being.”
