The organization of the Geneva Motor Show announced, days before, of the suspension of the largest event in the automotive sector in Europe. The fear of covid-19 has reached its highest level and the doors of the room will not open to the public. That has not stopped brands from revealing some of the novelties that they expected to show at this great fair. One of the most anticipated was the new Cupra Formentor, the first model developed by and for the brand since it separated from Seat. This firm’s predilection for SUVs was clear when they chose the Cupra Ateca as the first guarantor of the copper badge. A segment that will soon have a more sporty and daring addition: the Formentor .
The Cupra Formentor is named after a Majorcan cape, known for its rugged and wild environment. The aggressive and dynamic design of this SUV Coupé has certain similarities with the place, formed after centuries of fighting against the wind. Far from being just another model, the Formentor will set the standards for this new firm, both visually and mechanically. Its dynamic qualities represent the sporting essence of Cupra , a manufacturer that seeks to conquer the lover of driving and a lifestyle without labels or obviousness.
If Cupra keeps something from its past with Seat, it’s its fun, sensory and versatile nature. They are more sophisticated, exclusive and premium models, but they continue to be developed for customers who want it all: an everyday car and a stage car at the same time. Its measurements are: 4.45 meters long by 1.83 wide and 1.51 high , with a wheelbase of 2,680 meters and a 450-liter boot capacity. More than enough space to be the only car in the family.
The Cupra Formentor will be marketed with two propulsion versions, both with a high level of performance. The 310 hp petrol variant will convince the most purists , those who continue to get excited by the sounds of yesteryear. There will also be a 245 hp plug-in hybrid version for those who, while seeking dynamic excellence, want to reduce their impact on the environment.
