The dream is over: Katsuhiro Harada confirms that Tekken x Street Fighter has been canceled more than a decade after its announcement [Updated]

Update: Tekken X Street Fighter is not dead . Katsuhiro Harada has apologized for the misunderstanding of the translation and assures that, although development has been halted,

One of the most ambitious, expected and necessary projects in the video game industry. Tekken x Street Fighter had become the wet dream of the entire fighting community , imagining impossible matches between their favorite characters.

Announced in 2010 for the first time, it was the second part of the collaboration between Capcom and Bandai Namco . The first game was captained by the first company, releasing Street Fighter x Tekken in 2012. However, the delays after Tekken x Street Fighter were beginning to instill an aura of pessimism about development.

Now, Katsuhiro Harada , general producer of Bandai and one of the top managers of Tekken , has assured that “the project died” . This is how he has revealed it through a radio program called Harada’s Bar Radio and that you can listen to in the video below. At minute 21:23 is when he makes the declaration.

The developer claims that they got to have 30% of the game completed and that they wanted to show it, but finally they could not. According to him, “we were working very hard on it” as he points out around 17:15.

Kouhei Ikeda, director of Tekken 7, is also present at the talk and ensures that they put special emphasis on female characters such as Chun-Li . The downside is that they will not be able to show the final results of those characters since Street Fighter belongs to Capcom . We’ll see if we can see the results or the project itself in our systems one day, but for now it seems like a utopia.
