Dubai is precisely the territory in which taxi drones will begin to operate regularly. These autonomous vehicles will make ‘regular flights’ starting next July 2017 and have already been tested in the skies of China, where these drones have been designed by the Ehang company.
The autonomous air vehicle is not only innovative and safe, but it is respectful with the environment, since it is an electric transport without risk of contamination. It only needs electricity to function.
Drone-taxi features
Each device is individually coded for security.
It can carry a passenger weighing up to 100 kilograms .
The maximum possible travel time is 30 minutes.
Passengers can choose their destination through a touch screen, being able to make journeys of up to 50 kilometers . You will not have to do anything else.
The take-off and landing zones are adjusted automatically thanks to a camera and various sensors.
The passenger may have controls for temperature, ventilation and lights.
The drone-taxi is permanently connected to the command center to avoid flights in bad weather conditions.
The drone-taxi needs to recharge batteries after each trip and can move at 160 km / h.
Is its use risky? For the moment, the city in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai, has been the only one to launch itself to officially test this type of autonomous passenger vehicle. The fear of a problem occurring and not having any control of the vehicle is what worries the most, but it is true that large technology companies such as Amazon or Google have already begun to work with this type of device, although with no upcoming launch plans.
In Israel, the Urban Aeronautics company has announced the development of its own passenger drone, which would be ready by 2020 but whose use would be exclusively military.
