In 2025, Cupra will have entered a new era with three new electrified models, the Terramar, the Tavascan and the UrbanRebel, as well as with its current revamped range. “Our medium-term goal is to deliver 500,000 cars a year and boost our international expansion into new markets, as well as entering new segments. We have a Cupra Tribu fully committed to making this happen. In the end, it is the people who build the brand”, explained Wayne Griffiths , CEO of Cupra.
The first of them, the Terramar, will be the brand’s first electrified SUV . Plug-in hybrid technology has shown that electrification is part of Cupra’s DNA, and the range of vehicles that benefit from it has grown to occupy a large part of the range today. But Cupra wants to go further. By 2024, plug-in hybrid models will include even more options and have a longer electric range. This team will be joined by the Terramar, a sports SUV that pays homage to the well-known Sitges circuit and combines bold proportions with striking design. This emotional, sporty and electrified SUV will take the company to the top of the fastest growing segment in Europe. It will be manufactured in Hungary, at Audi’s Györ plant. It will be available with combustion engines, as well as a new generation of plug-in hybrid powertrains that offer around 100 kilometers of range in purely electric mode.
“Terramar is the place where it all started for Cupra. Our new sports hybrid SUV perfectly combines striking proportions with an elongated bonnet and a shark nose, which represent the determination to win,” says Jorge Díez , Cupra Design Director. . “Thinking about how the person behind the wheel will feel, we offer a unique experience with the most advanced technology thanks to the driver-oriented interior concept. In short, it is a 4.5-meter long SUV, with DNA Cupra and willing to stand out in one of the most competitive segments.”
The next step will be taken by the Tavascan, which responds to Cupra’s electrified vision and will remain faithful to the prototype presented in 2019. Some of its design elements are clearly hinted at in the Tavascan Extreme E Concept 2021. This model not only represents contemporary electrification, but will also help expand the brand into new markets when it launches in 2024 .
