The Golden Globes criticize their defectors and say they are prepared for change

It has been a month since the Hollywood industry reacted against the lack of racial diversity among the juries of the Golden Globes and the corruption in the form of gifts uncovered by the Los Angeles Times. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) is in charge of communicating the news around the world of cinema, outside the American borders and is also the organizer of these valued awards. So once the controversy broke out, they decided to carry out a series of reforms to add new members , paying special attention to the African-American community. Scarlett Johansson opened the ban by calling the measures insufficient and I encourage the entire industry to take a step forward, to displace the Golden Globes. To all this have been added the events of yesterday, in which two members of the HFPA they have left the organization calling it a “toxic place for journalists” .

The Golden Globes have criticized their defectors and thanked those who did value “staying the course” towards change. The abandonment and criticism of his former colleagues has not sat well with the rest, as can be read in yesterday’s statement: “disappointing that some members have decided to try to divide our organization, sowing division and doubt .” The official statement reads the following:

“At a time when the overwhelming majority of our members have chosen to be part of the change, it is disappointing that some members have decided to try to divide our organization and sow division and doubt. While some may have their own agendas, the board and HFPA members share a common goal: to endorse the transformative change our organization needs. “

This is a clear response to the allegations of the two members who a few hours ago claimed that the majority of the Golden Globes organization resists efforts to improve diversity and ethical standards. Both Netflix, Amazon and WarnerMedia have already left the organization, in addition to the NBC network that will no longer broadcast the gala. The controversies do not stop splashing the prelude to the Oscars, but can the organization be rebuilt or are we facing the end of the historic awards?
