The Great Renunciation in the US: how to combat this phenomenon in Mexico?

(Expansion) – Always, but with greater force since last year after the fear that the phenomenon of mass resignations in the United States could be reflected in our country as it was replicated in some economies such as the United Kingdom, France and Australia, take actions to ensuring the retention of talent and reducing staff turnover has become one of the priority issues for the Human Resources areas of many companies in our country.

Although some studies indicate that the conditions and needs of the workforce in Mexico are very different from those of its northern neighbor and it would be difficult for massive resignations to occur, recent research such as that of OCCMundial indicates that 41% of companies in the country is experiencing unusual resignations from workers due to stress, overwork, physical and mental exhaustion, as well as the search for better wages.

Although the impact of the increase in the number of resignations is naturally on the unemployment rates, its effect on the exponential growth of the turnover rate in the countries where this phenomenon is widespread is even more worrying. Likewise, this situation has caused that, in order to remain in their jobs, millions of people begin to demand more opportunities and benefits that allow them to enjoy better living conditions.

Therefore, regardless of whether or not the American phenomenon baptized by researcher Anthony Klotz as the “big quit” or the “Great Renunciation” has reached Mexico, there is a consensus on the need to take action to counteract the factors that led to it. due to its impact on the deterioration of the health of millions of workers, such as job exhaustion pointed out by Klotz.

Today we know from numerous studies that when people feel supported by their company they are less likely to quit. We also know that flexibility at work has helped many employees better balance their work and personal lives, and improve their quality of life.

The change in culture of many organizations and the reinforcement of values in companies that had already traveled a long way in this regard, have made visible a key concept in achieving business objectives: putting the well-being of employees at the center of decisions.

For this reason, in the search to strengthen the retention of talent, reduce their turnover rates and attract the best talent, the Human Resources areas have been reorganized to listen to their collaborators and adapt their strategies focusing on ensuring their physical, mental and emotional well-being. finances to meet their new needs.

The recent study , carried out by Harvard Business School, gives an account of this, pointing out that the on-demand salary, offered by companies to their employees, improves staff retention by up to 20% per year for low-ranking positions, which which suggests an improvement in one of your main demands, improving your financial well-being.

Employees today understand the value they bring to their organizations and demand the treatment they deserve, taking into account the impact of their role within a company.

If we seek to motivate our workers to achieve their maximum work performance and productivity, we must seek to turn our organizations into healthy companies, trusting, among other things, in innovative ideas that contribute to reinforcing the company culture to become better places to work.
