The man avoids the condom more with beautiful women

The excuses for not using protection when having sex with a partner can be very varied … But who would have thought that the justification of “but it is that I looked very pretty” would be among them.

Well, this is what a study recently published by the BMJ Open medical journal and carried out by a team of researchers from the universities of Southampton and Bristol (England), led by Anastasia Eleftheriou, a graduate in Computer Science, points to. Apparently, there would be an inversely proportional relationship between how attractive a man finds a woman and his desire to use a condom in an eventual sexual encounter with her . According to this, a pretty face would make us reckless and prone to taking unnecessary risks.

The 51 men who participated in the study – heterosexual and aged between 18 and 69 years – filled out a questionnaire in which they had to rate from one to one hundred different questions. Among them, the attractiveness of twenty women based on facial photographs; They also had to rate their desire to have sex with each one if they gave them the opportunity; and they had to specify the probability that, in the latter case, they wanted to use a condom with these hypothetical partners. They were also asked to indicate, also from zero to one hundred, the probability that the woman in each photo was a victim of a sexually transmitted disease (STD).

The results suggest that sexual behavior tends to be irrational when it comes to avoiding catching an STI, since, according to the data obtained, the more attractive men consider a woman, the less likely they are to want to use a condom in case to have sexual relations with her; And the fact that they believe it is probable that this woman may suffer from an STD would not influence her predisposition to have sex without using any type of protection .

In this experimental study, and as a result of other questions that were asked in the same questionnaire, it was also concluded that, the more attractive a man considers himself , the more certain he thinks that other men like him would have sexual relations with an attractive woman without using condoms and he is less likely to want to use it himself.
