The new iPhone Xs, Xs Max and Xr are here

The new iPhone Xs, Xs Max and Xr are here. Well, we will have to wait until September 21 to buy them , whoever wants to spend the more than a thousand euros that the first two cost. More artificial intelligence, and improvements, for example, in facial authentication thanks to its A12 Bionic neural processor, also with 6.9 billion transistors, like Huawei’s Kirin 980.

No. This phrase is not mine. It is the sentence that Steve Jobs, the late founder and former president of Apple, pronounced on June 29, 2007 before showing the world the first generation of a device that he would call ‘iPhone’, and that would clearly unleash a real cataclysm in the sector . Since then, all manufacturers, some more than others, look in their mirror to design on the outside, inside it is more complicated, smart terminals that look like the iPhone.

A few months before Jobs uttered that phrase, a little over eleven years ago, I had the opportunity to travel with a group of colleagues, from the company where I worked at that time, to Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino. We had sealed the marketing in Spain, and exclusively, of the first iPhone that the apple brand would sell outside the United States. And before that happened, in Spain on July 11, 2007, all of us who were in Cupertino knew that this device would change the sector forever. And by faith it has.

Today (September 12), Apple returns to show its fans, its followers, its detractors, its competitors, analysts, everyone, new equipment that will once again generate hordes of followers and queues in stores. Otherwise it would be difficult to explain why this company has been able to reach a market capitalization of 1 trillion (in European terminology) dollars, something that Amazon has only been able to match recently.

And although practically everything was already known about the new iPhone that Tim Cook, the president of Apple, has presented today, the teams will surely not disappoint the ‘appellants’ fans, and many who are not. And for this Apple has announced three new smartphones: iPhone Xs, Xs Max and Xr.

The first two are, according to the Cupertino-based company, the most advanced devices with the highest quality screens in history, and inside they house the Neural Engine A12 Bionic processor, manufactured in a 7-nanometer process and with 6.9 billion transistors on your silicon board. Yes, it will sound to you because it is similar, with the same number of transistors and manufacturing process as Huawei’s Kirin 980. The Apple Advantage? Which will market it earlier, as they will hit the market on September 21, while the new Huawei Mate 20 Pro that house the Kirin 980 we will still have to wait to see them until mid-October.

The A12 Bionic features a six-core fusion architecture with two up to 15% faster performance cores, up to 50% more efficient four cores, up to 50% faster quad-core GPU, a powerful processor of Apple image signal (SIP), and, among other solutions, a video encoder. Thanks to the faster storage controller, iPhone can offer up to 512GB of storage. All these features allow you to enjoy new experiences in the fields of games, photography, video editing and graphically intensive apps. Even at all this power, the iPhone XS battery lasts 30 minutes longer than the iPhone X, and the iPhone XS Max lasts an additional hour and a half on a single charge.

The next-generation Neural Engine is designed for advanced machine learning in areas ranging from photography to augmented reality. The new 8-core design makes it possible to carry out up to 5 trillion operations per second, compared to 600 billion offered by the A11 Bionic chip in the iPhone X. This advance allows you to enjoy new capabilities, such as detection of Faster drawings in ARKit and in new features that use real-time machine learning. For the first time, the Neural Engine can be used with Core Machine Learning, making it easy for developers to create apps by taking advantage of the high efficiency of this machine learning engine. The Core ML included in the Neural Engine of the A12 Bionic chip is up to 9 times faster than that of the A11 Bionic, despite consuming only a tenth of power.

Continuing with its advanced features in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), and although I miss Siri innovations on the new iPhones that at least have not been announced, Face ID is still faster on the Xs and Xs Max. The TrueDepth camera system uses highly accurate depth sensing technology that goes beyond the capabilities and security offered by 2D face scanners and enables users to unlock iPhone, use Apple Pay, securely access apps , just with a quick glance.

The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will be available with capacities of 64 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB and in space gray, silver and the new gold finish starting at € 1,159 in Spain and € 1,259 respectively on, in the Apple Store app and Apple Stores, as well as through Apple Authorized Resellers and some carriers. They can be reserved from Friday, September 14, and will arrive in stores on Friday, September 21, in more than 30 countries, including Spain.

The iPhone XR, ‘the new cheap iPhone from Apple’, also has the A12 Bionic chip, has a 6.1-inch Liquid Retina screen, an aluminum and glass design in six finishes, Face ID and an advanced camera system.

It can be reserved from Friday, October 19 and will arrive in stores a week later. It will be available with 64, 128 and 256 GB of capacity in white, black, blue, yellow, coral and (PRODUCT) RED starting at € 859 in Spain. According to Apple, this team “helps us put iPhone innovations in the hands of even more people ”.

The first thing to present Apple at its event today has been Apple Watch Series 4 will arrive on September 21 in stores with a new design and more advanced features than those of its predecessors, and with a price starting at 429 euros. Redesigned inside and out to help users stay connected, move more, and control their health like never before. While retaining the unmistakable original design, this has been refined in the fourth generation Apple Watch and now combines new hardware and software enhancements with a single, consistent design. The screen is more than 30% larger and is integrated into the case, which is thinner and smaller. The new interface, meanwhile, provides more information and in greater detail. Apple Watch Series 4 with watchOS 5 incorporates advanced physical activity and communication features, as well as revolutionary health features. For example, the new accelerometer and gyroscope, which detect heavy falls, and the electrical heart rate sensor, which allows EKGs when used with the new EKG app (1), classified as De Novo by the FDA.

Finally, Apple has announced improvements and new countries in which the Home Pod, its intelligent digital assistant, will be available. The big news is that from October 26 it will be available in Spain at a price of 349 euros, so it will be the second to arrive in our country after Google Home, and it is ahead of Amazon, which has not yet announced its devices. Echo, and Telefónica, that Movistar Home will not sell until the end of the year. And no dates are known for the Samsung or Huawei home attendees, who presented it at the IFA in Berlin in August. Apple’s Home Pod will allow, what Google Home does not, make and receive calls.

Until the date of commercialization of the new products, which we hope to test and test in order to give a more objective opinion, we can only read and see on video everything new that Apple equipment, inside and out, will bring. Surely there is already more than one Apple fan lining up at an App Store to take theirs, even if they have to pay well over a thousand euros.
