The new Lexus RX reinvents the premium crossover segment

The Lexus RX invented the premium crossover segment when its first generation was launched in 1998. Now, twenty-one years later, it is reinventing it with the new version of its fourth generation – both its five-seater variant and the L–, which debuted on the market in 2015, and stands out for its elegant and dynamic exterior, combined with a highly functional interior. So far, Lexus has sold more than three million units of the RX worldwide. And it is expected that, with this restyling, the model will continue its journey being able to face its more direct rivals such as the BMW X5 or the Audi Q7.

Among the changes that this new version of the RX has undergone are a more modern and advanced style , an even more comfortable and practical interior and a better level of ride, driving feel and response. However, it is also true that DNA is the same as ever. Thus, for example, safety remains an essential aspect, making the new RX the first vehicle in the world to have a new adaptive high-beam control system, which offers the driver a much wider field of night vision than up to now.

In addition, it has other characteristics that make it stand out within the segment such as the greater stability it presents and the feel of the direction, now more linear. It also offers one of the highest levels of safety to be found on the market, thanks to the world first of the AHS with BladeScan technology and the new Lexus Safety System +. Connectivity technology is not far behind in this new RX either, as it incorporates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as touch screen and touch panel control.

As for the motorization, it is a non-plug-in hybrid made up of a six-cylinder gasoline engine with 262 hp and two electric, one with 167 hp on the front axle and the other with 68 hp on the rear. The combined maximum power is 313 hp and the battery, nickel and metal hydride.
