The new compact and urban SUV from Opel already has prices for the Spanish market. The Opel Mokka 2021 , which has recovered its initial name, surprised users and the specialized press with a daring design and the electric version as a launch model. In this article we will tell you all about the renewed image of the model , an aesthetic that fits with a market eager for changes and more marked silhouettes. A buyer who begins to be aware of the real change that is coming and who adjusts, little by little, to the terms related to electric propulsion. For this reason, Opel launched itself to present its most important model for 2021 with that powertrain, without even informing about the other engines. We knew that they would exist but not what kind of thermal blocks they would be. We now have the complete puzzle, with trim levels and prices available .
The first thing we should know is how the Mokka 2021 commercial range is structured in Spain. The mechanical options have two gasoline engines, a diesel and the electric version called Mokka-e . The first gasoline is the 1.2T three-cylinder that yields 100 hp and 205 Nm of maximum torque, which is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. Its performance is not spectacular since its driving is focused on the most coherent user, with an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in 10.6 seconds and a top speed of 188 km / h. The most interesting thing is the consumption that they have managed to homologate with this small gasoline, of only 5.5 to 5.7 l / 100km in the WLTP cycle . Similar have been the expenses of the 1.2T of 130 CV and 230 Nm of maximum torque . This boosted version can go with the same manual gearbox or an eight-speed automatic transmission. It reaches 202 km / h and its acceleration is 9.1 seconds until it reaches 100 km / h.
If you are going to do long drives with the Opel Mokka, an SUV 4.15 meters long by 1.79 wide and 1.53 high , you can opt for the diesel engine. It is still the most reasonable choice today, despite the persecution that is carried out on this type of fuel. It is a four-cylinder with 110 hp of power, over 3,500 laps, and a maximum torque of 250 Nm at the bottom of the lap counter (1,750 rpm). Its top speed is 190 km / h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 10.8 seconds, with an approved consumption of 4.3 l / 100 km and CO2 emissions of 114 g / km.
The electric boss
The firm has chosen, until now, to maintain a friendly and well-known image of its 100% electric models. An example of this is the Opel Corsa-e, presented at the beginning of the year and which starts at 28,650 euros. With the Mokka it is similar, despite the aesthetic change that this new generation represents. The difference between versions and drive styles is barely noticeable. That way, they say from the firm, the client is not overwhelmed by the decision to go to the outlets. Enough will have with the scare of the price, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The Mokka-e is powered by an electric drivetrain with 100 kW (136 hp) and 260 Nm of maximum torque . Its autonomy (WLTP) is 322 kilometers and it will only need 30 minutes, on a fast charger, for a full charge.
As with other engines, in the Mokka-e the customer can choose between four different equipment levels: Edition, GS Line, Business Elegance and Ultimate . This decision will affect the equipment and, obviously, the starting price of the model. LED daytime running lights , 7-inch touchscreen, 7-inch digital instrument cluster , automatic braking system with pedestrian detection and cruise control come standard , among other details. The GS Line trim includes the rear camera, tinted windows, aluminum pedals, two-tone roof and 17-inch wheels (16 as standard) as important elements.
The Business Elegance finish adds keyless entry and start, the Opel Connect system to link the car and your smartphone, as well as connectivity with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay , and the navigator. To show off the adaptive IntelliLux Matrix LED headlights we will have to spend what is necessary for the Ultimate finish, which also enlarges the central screen (10 ”), the instrumentation and the wheels (18 inches).
Prices of the new Opel Mokka 2021
The 2021 Opel Mokka starts at 21,000 euros for the 100 hp gasoline and six-speed manual transmission. The 110 hp diesel engine, with manual gearbox and Edition finish, starts at € 22,500 . The most equipped and powerful gasoline, the 130 hp Mokka 1.2T with automatic transmission and Ultimate version, starts at 30,900 euros . Diesel, on the other hand, remains at 29,200 euros.
The Mokka-e is the most striking novelty . What we should know is that, despite being a generalist firm, it is not among the 10 cheapest electric vehicles on the market. It doesn’t surprise us either. The PSA group has just started in this of complete electrification and only compact models, such as the Peugeot e-208 or the Opel Astra-e , have managed to sneak into the list. Models that are living history and that hardly brought much change in the production lines of the factories thanks to the CMP platforms. The Mokka-e Edition starts at 35,400 euros and the most expensive, with all the equipment discussed above, starts at 42,100 euros.
